Our Team

David Newcome joined DARO Realty, Inc. in June 2009 as Vice President, Chief Operating Officer.  Prior to joining DARO, David was the Vice President and Director of Apartment Management of the B.F. Saul Company for over 10 years where he oversaw the $70 million construction, renovation and lease-up of the Kennedy-Warren Apartments, and was a member of the development team for the $135 million Lyon Place, Arlington County’s newest mixed-use development.

In the 1990’s, David was Senior Regional Manager for the Charles E. Smith Companies and managed a diverse portfolio of properties which included much of Crystal City in Northern Virginia, and many high profile properties such as Van Ness South, The Irene and the Park Vista.  Prior to joining Charles E. Smith, David was a Regional Property Manager for Southern Management, as well as Vice President of Houle and Associates, Inc. in the Chicago area.

David has managed multi-family properties in the Washington, DC area and in Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans and Atlanta. 

He has also been active in the property management industry’s various trade associations.  Currently, David is the Chairman of the PMA (Property Management Association) Council of Fellows, a member of the PMA Board of Directors and he served as PMA President in 2000.  David remains visible in the industry and has been a member representative in AOBA (Apartment and Office Building Association), the Dallas Apartment Association, The Atlanta Apartment Association, The Northern Virginia Apartment Association and the Maryland MultiHousing Council.  For five years, he was a member of the Arlington County Tenant Landlord Commission and he received the first PMA Vision Award for his efforts on behalf of the property management industry.

David holds a B.S. in Management from George Mason University, and has a Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from BOMA International.  He is a licensed D.C. Real Estate Salesperson.

David is most proud of his efforts coaching youth basketball and he was the Founder and Coach of the Vienna Basketball Club.  Although he no longer actively participates, he still follows his former players as they continue their basketball careers through high school.
