This Saturday is CEG’s 7th annual Party on the Potomac from 4-11pm near your rent apartments Washington DC. The Capitol Entertainment Group was founded in 2005 with the goal of organizing social events for Washington DC’s young professionals. Party on the Potomac is their flagship event, occurring annually on the fourth of July weekend and drawing over a thousand guests each year.

The Party on the Potomac will be held at The Bullpen, a festival park across the street from the main entrance to the Washington Nationals Stadium. This years party will feature musical performances from Slim Pickins, Judo Chop, and Jimi Smooth & HitTime.

You must be 21 or older to attend due to the outrageous 7-hour long open bar. Tickets are a little pricey, but they include the seven hours of unlimited drinks at the open bar, entrance to the party, and the musical entertainment. Women’s tickets cost $75 and men’s cost $85, which is totally worth it if you consider what you would spend on drinks in a seven hour period in a ber or club.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Trey Lefler Memorial Scholarship Fund. Trey was a board member of the Capital Club of Washington, a mentor in the “Everybody Wins” reading program, a founding member of the Capitol Entertainment Group, and as a utility player for the Chiefs Softball Team. He passed away in November 2007 at the age of 25 after a tragic car accident.

This exhibit is free and will go from 6:30pm until just before midnight. Enjoy a custom cocktail menu paired up with savory food items and listen to old-school soul and funk music from DJ SoulCall Paul as you peruse the photos.

Danny Harris is a DC-based photographer, writer, and performer who will be exhibiting his series “At Home on the Playa” throughout the month of April. “Art Crimes” will only be on display to celebrate opening night this Wednesday.

Books for America is your perfect destination. Books for America is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Washington, DC that is having a huge impact on thousands of disadvantaged individuals in the Nation’s Capital and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Their mission is to promote literacy, life-long learning and understanding by distributing donated new and used books of all types and other forms of educational media to organizations serving disadvantaged communities and individuals.

The majority of their current programs focus on collecting books for children. However, because they collect all types of books, they are able to provide books to people of all ages. This makes Books for America unique among most non-profit organizations in the United States. Recipients include adult and youth literacy programs, youth centers, transitional homeless shelters, hospitals, inner-city and rural schools, military bases, assisted living communities for seniors, veterans hospitals, women’s shelters, hospices, and other such organizations.
