The Natural History Museum Hits 100 Years Today!!!

100 years ago today, nearly 4,000 visiting dignitaries entered the new Beaux Arts building on the National Mall. Among the dignitaries were ambassadors from Germany, Japan, and Switzerland. Today, it is the most visited museum in America with 7 million people a year looking to see a vast array of mind expanding exhibits.

It began life under a different name in the 1850’s: The United States National Museum and it housed specimens, historical artifacts, and art. By the turn of the century, the museum was bursting at the seams and by 1904 ground was broken on the National Mall.

The Natural History Museum is attainable by public transportation from any of our apartments DC for rent buildings. Be it the Metro, cab, or even by foot, this museum should not be missed.
